William Robert Silvey, age 76, of Jefferson City, died Monday, August 26, 2013, at Oak Tree Villa in Jefferson City. Bill was born March 18, 1937, in Gravois Mills, a son of Lawson and Mary Shackleford Silvey. On November 19, 1955, in Versailles, he married Carolyn Housworth, who survives at their home. He worked at the Kansas City Bifocal Plant in Versailles and retired in 1995 from Central Dairy after 37 years of service.
Bill was an active member of the Capital West Christian Church in Jefferson City. He helped form the "Tri County Softball League" where he was the coach of the Versailles high school girls' team. He was an active member of the Capital Wings R.V. Club. He also enjoyed traveling, gardening and fishing. He was a devoted father and grandfather. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by two children and their spouses, Joy and Bob Bax and Jeff and Monica Silvey, all of Jefferson City; six grandchildren, Jeremy Silvey, Andrew Bax, Jennifer Marcinleowski, Lauren Holt and husband Carter, Erick Feely and Jorden Bax, three great grandsons, Brent, Grayden and Adrian, along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eileen Comer. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, at the Capital West Christian Church with Bro. Ken Harland officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time at the church on Wednesday. Entombment will be in the Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Capital West Christian Church Building Fund.
