S/Sgt. William Charles “Moon” Mullins , Jr. Missouri Army National Guard (Ret.), passed away at Fairview Nursing Home in Sedalia on Thursday, May 4, 2017.
He was born on October 17, 1940, in Otterville, MO, the first of four children of William Charles and Helen Roan Mullins.

Bill graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in May 1960, and then served in the United States Army from October 1961 to October 1964. On July 5, 1963, he married Connie Naomi Jason in Washington D.C., whom he met while they were both stationed there.

He continued to serve his country when he enlisted in the Missouri Army National Guard in March 1981, and was first assigned to the 4175th MP Detachment as an assistant criminal investigator. He was then transferred and assigned to the 1267th Medical Company (Air Amb) in September 1990, which deployed to Saudi Arabia in February 1991 for Operation Desert Storm. He retired in October 2000 with twenty-two years of dedicated service. Bill was a Sargent with the Camdenton Police Department and a Reserved Deputy with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office. He later served as the Chief of Police for the City of Linn Creek. Bill was a Life Member of VFW Post 2591 and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sedalia. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Connie Naomi Jason. He is survived by, a daughter, Tammy Ranney (Brian) of Syracuse, MO; three sons, William C. Mullins III ( Laura), Alan C. Mullins, Adam H. Mullins (Merry) all of Kansas City, MO; a sister Debra Ann Mullins and Fred Rich of Kansas City, MO ; a brother Gary L. Mullins (Vicky) of Edwards, MO; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

On October 17, 2013, Bill married Sundra Comfort who survives of the home and three sons, Kevin Comfort (Farrah), Kyle Comfort (Mary), and Karis Comfort (Denise) and one daughter Kandy Comfort;16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother Kenneth Wayne Mullins.

Funeral services for Mr. Mullins will be at 2 PM, Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Otterville. Burial with military honors will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Otterville. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
