William "Bill" Bowers, age 67, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at the Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
He was born August 25, 1948, in Versailles, the son of Clarence Edwin "Pete" and Edna Kinter Bowers, who preceded him in death. On May 27, 1971, in Versailles, Bill was united in marriage to Denice Comstock, who survives at their home.
He was a 1966 graduate of Morgan County R-II School. He retired from Gates Rubber Company in Versailles.
Bill loved being outdoors where he could hunt and fish. He looked forward to spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, running his trot line. He also enjoyed quiet evenings at home with his family.
In addition to his wife of 44 years, Bill is survived by three children, Pamela Downing and husband Everett of Stover; Holly Huff and husband Gary of Versailles, and Leo Edwin Eugene Bowers of Osage Beach; two brothers, Jim Bowers and wife Joyce of Stover and Bob Bowers of Medford, Oregon; one sister, Betty Monroe and husband Terry of Stover; seven grandchildren, Everette Downing, Cody Downing, Megan Ware, William Huff, Sunny Huff, Leo Bowers, Jr., and KayLee Bowers, one great granddaughter, Charlie Marie Ware, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dean Bowers and one granddaughter, Brittany Downing.
A memorial reception will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, at the Bill and Denice Bowers' residence in Versailles. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Versailles Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bill Bowers memorial fund in care of the family.
