Wanda F. Thompson

August 3, 1944 — September 6, 2016

Wanda F. Thompson, age 72, of Eldon, formerly of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
She was born August 3, 1944, in Barnett, a daughter of John and Martha Whitted Kelso. Wanda was united in marriage to Carl A. Thompson on September 21, 1963, at the First Baptist Church in Versailles. Carl, Sr. preceded her in death May 27, 1994.
She was a homemaker, busy raising her children. In later years she cared for her mother-in-law and other neighbors in the Russellville community.
She was a faithful and active member of the Enon Baptist Church, volunteering with Vacation Bible School, Sunday school, and various other activities at the church.
For the past several years Wanda had resided at the Willow Creek retirement community in Eldon, where she delivered the newsletter and birthday cards to other residents. She enjoyed attending the many activities and visiting with the other residents.
Wanda looked forward to going to church, attending Bible study and visiting her family and friends. However her greatest enjoyment came from her family, especially the time she could spend with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two children, Fonda Wilson and husband Earl of Eldon and Carl Thompson, Jr. of Russellville; four brothers, Alan Kelso of Warrensburg; George Kelso and wife Delphia, Don Kelso and Carl Kelso and wife Linda all of Kansas City; three sisters, her twin, Wilda Bogle of Eldon; Leah Burns of Stover and Viola Casey of Michigan; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Robert Pritchett, Jr., Cathlin Wallace, Jessica Wallace, Joshua Thompson and Carl Thompson, III, twenty-three great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James and John Kelso and one sister, Ruth Farr.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, at the Enon Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Digby officiating. Interment will be in the Enloe Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, at the Enon Baptist Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Enon Baptist Church.
