Walter Clyde Taylor

May 19, 1928 — June 10, 2018

Walter "Clyde" Taylor passed away Sunday evening, June 10, 2018 at home with his grandson at his bedside in Syracuse, Missouri.

Walter was born May 19, 1928 in Memphis, Tennessee to Walter and Lottie Taylor. Immediately after graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Navy and served his country during WWII.

After he returned to civilian life he attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in the spring of 1950. In September of the that same year he married Imogene Carmichael. Together they were blessed with four children.

Walter, or Clyde, as he is known, and Imogene moved to central Missouri in 1965 where he became Traffic Manager for Ralston Purina and continued with Cargill until his retirement in 1982. After Imogene retired, they spent a few years traveling in the US, abroad in Europe and also enjoyed going on a few cruises. Their marriage was a happy one for 50 years until Imogene passed away in the year 2000.

Preceding Clyde in death were his parents and his wife.

Those surviving Walter Clyde Taylor are his children Charlotte Taylor of Central City, Colorado, Wally Taylor and wife Margaret of Normal, Illinois, Dr. Duke Taylor and wife Joyce of Springfield, Virginia, Julie Peoples of the home in Syracuse; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Clyde was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California, Missouri.

Clyde left a parting message.
In his own words...."I had a lovely life. I would do it again as long as Imo was with me. Love and Happiness to all!"

A memorial service for Clyde will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 207 N. Owen St., California, Missouri.
