Walter Fowler Dowdy

Walter Fowler Dowdy, 84, of Otterville passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City with his family at his side.

He was one of 4 children born to Stuart Moman and Katherine Fowler Dowdy in Green Ridge, Missouri.

Walter was a graduate of Green Ridge High School Class of 1949. Following his graduation, he moved to Otterville with his brothers in 1953. He and Zetta Marie Meyer were married November 22, 1953 and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before she passed awsy November 4, 2014. He worked for Phillips Pipeline and was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Zetta Marie; brothers George M. and Jesse L. Dowdy; and sister Mary Katherine Williams.

Walter is survived by sons Ronald Dowdy and his wife Marsha of Otterville, George Dowdy and his wife Lisa of Smithton; daughters Kathy Lyons and her husband Matt of Camdenton, Melinda Phillips and her husband Denny of Ulman; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and an extended family of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Memorial funeral services for Walter Dowdy will be held 7 PM Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Otterville. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM prior to the service.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
