Virginia Brandt Bentz, age 87, of Stover, died Saturday, October 15, 2011, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
She was born June 18, 1924, in Morgan County, near Stover, a daughter of Theodore and Ella Richardson Brown, both deceased. On January 25, 1942, Virginia married George Brandt and to this union three children were born. George preceded her in death June 22, 1982. On December 10, 1983, Virginia married Theodore Bentz. Ted survives at their home.
For several years Virginia worked at the Primo Pants Factory in Versailles. However, she is best remembered for being a local babysitter to many of the families in the Stover area.
Virginia enjoyed her friends and family. She was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with Ted.
She was a faithful member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Esther Schultz and husband Jim of Springfield; Alice Catalano of Lee's Summit and Rick Brandt and his wife Isabelle of St. Louis; one sister, Faye Braden of Stover; also seven grandchildren, Dan Schultz, Lisa Wood, Brad Lobdell, Jeff Lobdell, Greg Lobdell, Madeline Brandt and Mackenzie Brandt, six great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, also other relatives and friends.
Virginia was also preceded in death by one brother Daniel Brown.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 18, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor Cecil Murdock officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church of St. Paul's Lutheran School.
