Virgil Frederick Schupp, 89, of Pilot Grove, Missouri passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove. He was one of 3 children born to Walter and Mary Schupp in the Pleasant Green community south of Pilot Grove. Virgil attended the Mount Nebo Grade School and graduated in 1945 from Pilot Grove High School. He served 2 years in Korea with the U.S. Army returning home to farm with brother Gilbert, before buying his own farm, eventually accumulating 8 farms in the Pleasant Green - New Lebanon area before retiring. Virgil farmed to live and lived to farm!
Virgil and Neva Dell Eirls of Sedalia, Missouri were married April 29, 1951 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past year. He was a life-long member of what is now the Pilot Grove Community Church where he served several terms on the Church Board. He also served on an early fire department board and the New Lebanon Community Center Board. He was greatly loved and respected by his family, neighbors and friends. He will be missed by many.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; son David Schupp; grandson Matthew Twenter; brother Gilbert Schupp and sister Lorene Schupp.
He is survived by his wife Neva; son Thomas Schupp and his wife Brenda of Columbia; daughters Sandra Twenter and her husband Steve of Pilot Grove, Linda Graves and her husband John of Columbia, Judy Einspahr and her husband Britt of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren Chris Schupp and wife Ali, Kelli Bredhoeft, Barry Twenter and wife Maria, Katie Twenter, Alana, Wes, Trent Einspahr, Carissa Graves; great-grandchildren Sydney, Samantha, Sophia Schupp, Noah, Micah, Emma Bredhoeft, Cooper, Jet, Jules, David Twenter; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Pilot Grove Community Church with burial following in the St. Paul UCC Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Monday evening at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove and from 10-11 AM Tuesday at the church prior to the funeral service.
Memorials are suggested for the St. Paul UCC Cemetery.
