Tom Murphy, age 71, of Stover passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the Capital Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City. It was the 17th day of December in 1949 when James and Dorothy Reynolds Murphy welcomed their sweet baby boy, Thomas Patrick, into their family in Kansas City, Kansas. On October 22, 1971, Tom was united in marriage to Deborah Pauley at the Grandview Baptist in Kansas City, Kansas, who survives at their home. Tom worked for the Kansas City, Kansas police department for over twenty six years, retiring with the title of Master Sergeant Police Officer. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police in Kansas City. Throughout his career, he also taught at the Police Academy. Tom liked to fish and scuba dive in his younger years. He served as a deacon at the Stover First Baptist Church. Above all of these things, Tom enjoyed spending time with his family the most, especially his grandkids and great grandkids. Left to carry on Tom's legacy is his wife, Debbie, son, Shannon Murphy and Patty Gaffke of Jefferson City, daughter, Sheryl Jones and husband David of Dover, Missouri, brother, Fred Murphy and wife Annette, sister, Carol Hahner and husband Frank all of Kansas City, Kansas, two grandchildren, Kylie Farnen and husband Robert of Concordia and Katie Reber of Stover, two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Amelia Farnen, along with nieces, nephews, and many friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Stover.
