Tillie F. Holmberg

Tillie Fay Holmberg, 91, of Tipton, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.

She was born September 19, 1931, in Tipton, daughter of Lacy and Ethel (Lawson) Embry.

On April 28, 1955, she was married to Edwin Albin Holmberg, who preceded her in death on April 29, 2016.

Tillie attended a business college in Kansas City and worked for Russell Stover Candies and State Farm Insurance. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tipton. She was active in her church and was a Sunday School Teacher, and contributed to the library.

She was Valedictorian of her high school class, achieved many promotions at her jobs, and saved many animals’ lives.

Tillie was an avid reader, studied the Bible, loved animals, took in many strays, and researched cats and studied their behaviors.

She’ll be remembered as sweet, witty, humorous, and caring.

The surviving family includes ten nieces and nephews, and twenty-five grandnieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Hazel Rice, Irene Newkirk, Richard “Dick” Embry and Okal Embry; two nephews, Paul Wehmeir and Wayne Wehmeir; and one-grandnephew, Scott Newkirk.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Tipton, with Pastor Jared Rivera officiating.

Casket bearers will be Bobby Caton, Jim Caton, Brian Stahl, Don Ecton, Kent Blankenship and Mike Mortenson.

Burial will be in Moreau Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church of Tipton or the Sedalia Animal Shelter.
