Tipton

Mrs. Thelma Irene Larimore, 95, passed away, Monday, February 3, 2025, at Tipton Oak Manor, after a brief illness.

She was born February 9, 1929, in Old Linn Creek, Camden County, Missouri, a daughter of Hubert Arnold and Viola Ann (Hibdon) Arnold. Irene graduated from Tipton High School.

On October 17, 1947, she was united in marriage to William “Cecil” Larimore, who preceded her in death on March 15, 1986.

Irene was a member of First Baptist Church in Tipton for 78 years where she served as a Vacation Bible School teacher, hospitality hostess, and in many ministry opportunities. She was most proud of helping to stain the wood slats in the new church sanctuary and in making thousands of loom-knit hats as part of the church’s mission efforts. She loved reading her Bible daily and praying for her family. Irene loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and body.

Irene worked at the Tipton Farmers Bank/Commerce Bank in Tipton for many years, only pausing to be a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed working in the yard mowing grass in the summer and picking up leaves in the fall. She loved caring for people.

She is survived by her daughter Carmen Russell (Jesse) of St. Louis and her son Paul Larimore, of Columbia; two granddaughters: Mallory Baurichter (Matt) of Columbia and Kalie Rieker (John) of St. Louis; three great-grandsons: Silas Baurichter, Cash Baurichter and Max Rieker and one step great-granddaughter, Taylor Rieker. Also surviving are one sister Verna Mae Watring and one brother, Donald Arnold, both of Boonville. In addition are several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Lorene Cornine, a brother: John Leonard “J.L.” Arnold and his wife Dorothy; and a brother Hubert “Edward” Arnold and his wife Judy; and one sister-in-law, Sandy (Donald) Arnold and one brother-in-law Jewell Watring.

A celebration of her life will be held at the First Baptist Church, Tipton, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, with Pastor Jared Rivera officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am; funeral service at 11:00 am with burial immediately following in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
