Sue Sponcler

April 17, 1938 — May 5, 2016

Frances Sue Sponcler of Otterville passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016 doing what she enjoyed, tending to her flowers. She always loved her flowers and watching the birds, especially her hummers.

She was born at her grandparents' home in Platte County, Missouri on April 17, 1938, daughter of Ida Mae Cannon and step-daughter of Herman Cannon. On July 2, 1955 she married John D. Sponcler. She returned to school after raising her sons to earn a Bachelor of Nursing Degree from State Fair Community College while working at Bothwell Hospital. She enjoyed retirment after 20+ years of nursing, doing some traveling with her granddaughters, taking them on many trips all over the state. While the granddaughters were growing up, she took them on a lot of weekend mini-vacations to see St. Louis, the boot heel of Missouri, Lake of the Ozarks, caves all around the state, Johnson Shut In, Detroit, Michigan, Canada, plays at Arrow Rock and Branson. It was always a fun time and they never got lost, maybe a scenic tour, but never "lost"...

Sue Sr., as she was known locally, was avid at crochet, making afghans, hats, baby blankets, booties... the list is endless, for everyone she knew that needed one. She donated them to various organizations and fund raisers because she loved helping everyone. There was never a pattern she wouldn't try. She lived life believing that there is good in everyone. She never had anything bad to say about anyone and will be deeply missed by all who have ever known her.

She is survived by husband John D. of the home; sons George Sponcler and his wife Sue and John M. Sponcler and his wife Carrie all of Otterville; granddaughters Christy Wirths and her husband Chad of Pilot Grove, Tiffany Sponcler and Craig Roettgen of Jefferson City, Jennifer Sponcler and George Pearson of Tipton, and Valarie Main and her husband Sean of Otterville; great-grandchildren Elaina, Daylan, and Marina Wirths, Porter Hurt and Paisley Roettgen, Austyn Sawford, Lexie May and Camden Main.
