Shirley Ann Wenger, age 83, of Versailles died Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
She was born December 24, 1928, in Stover, a daughter of John Elmer and Mattie Proctor Scrivner. On May 1, 1949, at the Stover United Methodist Church, Shirley was united in marriage to I.A. Wenger, who preceded her in death December 2, 2011.
Shirley graduated as Valedictorian from Stover High School with the class of 1946. She attended CMSU and taught school in the rural schools of the county.
She later worked as bookkeeper in the business she co-owned with her husband, Wenger's Farm Equipment Company.
She was a faithful member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Versailles, where she worked many years in the Sunday School department, the women's organizations in the church and had served as an Elder and a Deacon.
She is survived by one daughter, Teri Nations of Versailles; two grandchildren, Kim Nations of Versailles and Travis Nations and wife Jessica of Tampa, Florida; two great grandchildren, Elliott James and Andie Gayle Nations, also a niece, two nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Angeline Seaton and Imogene Bowers.
In keeping with her wishes, she was cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Eric Wright officiating. Inurnment will be in the Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time at the church on Friday. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, the American Diabetes Association or the Sheltered Workshop.
