Shirley Ann Dority, age 71, of Stover, died Monday evening, April 11, 2011, at her son, Philip Dority's home in Versailles.
She was born July 31, 1939, near Florence, a daughter of Elroy and Reba Hilburn Munsterman.
On April 4, 1957, in Moberly, Shirley was united in marriage to Edward Eugene "Gene" Dority. Gene preceded her in death November 28, 2002.
She worked for several years at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Stover, where she was a CNA and a CMT. Shirley also worked at Fasco and Sola Optical for several years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stover.
Shirley enjoyed being with her family and working outside until her health failed her.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Debbie Dority of Versailles; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Bob Matherly of Kenney, Illinois; her loving and longtime companion, "Butch" McGinnis of Versailles; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Dale Updike of Orange, California and Joyce and Jim Bowers of Hastings, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Chassidy DeRoode and husband, Adam; Rachel Matherly, Brandon Dority and wife Mandy and Travis Dority and wife Kay, four great grandchildren, Kelsay and Nikolai Dority, Dakotah Matherly and Samara Osborne, with her fifth great-grandchild due on April 26, also nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother, Cora Munsterman.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 15, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Rev. Dinzel Webb officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday, April 14, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
