Sharon K. Wells, age 72, of rural Versailles, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, October 26, 2014, at her home.
She was born November 15, 1941, in Ft. Scott, Kansas, a daughter of Henry Charles and Eula May Hogan Lewis. On July 25, 1959, in Nevada, Missouri, Sharon was united in marriage to Orville D. Wells, who preceded her in death November 12, 1995.
She was a graduate of Nevada High School.
Sharon and Orville moved to Stover in 1969. They owned and operated Sharon's Cree-Mee, the Hammermill Restaurant and Backwoods Barbeque, all located in Stover. In 2006, Sharon retired from the Morgan County Sheriff's Department as a Communications Supervisor, after 17 years of employment..
Sharon always enjoyed a good card game, spending time with friends, but most all being with her family.
Survivors include two children, Charles Wells and companion Lynn Heimsoth and Anita Bumgardner and husband Cliff all of rural Versailles; one brother, Joe Lewis and wife Betty of Lawrence, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Barbara Lewis of Contonment, Florida and Pat Wells of Sedalia; seven grandchildren, Brittany Boyd and husband Calvin, Kayla, Shelbie and Brody Bumgardner, Logan, Tanner and Jacob Wells, four great grandchildren, Justus and Paisley Boyd, Walker Martin and Isabella Wells, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Mike Wells, one daughter-in-law, Jill Wells, one brother Don Lewis, two brother-in-law, Leroy Wells and Jack Wells, and two sisters-in-law, Marguerite Wells and Betty Wells.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Rev. Steve Robinson officiating. Interment will be in the Kipp Addition of the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wells Grandchildren Education Fund.
