Samuel L Schindler

July 3, 1933 — March 13, 2015

Samuel L "Sam" Schindler, age 81, of the Ivy Bend community south of Stover, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015, at Lake Regional Health Center in Osage Beach, following a brief illness.
He was born July 3, 1933, in New Albany, Indiana, a son of Joseph and Thelma Smith Schindler.
On April 9, 2004, Sam married Bertha Taylor Burk, who survives at their home.
Sam served his country in the US Navy.
He was employed as maintenance director for the Belton School District, retiring in 1992.
Sam's dream was to live at the Lake of the Ozarks; where he could spend time on the lake fishing. Following his retirement, he made that dream a reality; moving full time to the Ivy Bend area, where he enjoyed being outdoors and his friendly neighbors.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two sons, Samuel L. Schindler, Jr. and wife Susan of Claycomo and Joseph Schindler of New Albany; a stepson, Michael Burk and wife Cindy of Lawson; two stepdaughters, Patty Ballanger and husband Randy of Kearney and Kathy Burk of Liberty; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Schindler, a son, Christopher Schindler, a daughter, Lisa Gay Schindler and a stepson David Lee Burk.
In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated, with no services planned.
