Ruth Katherine Ehlers Wahlers, age 86, of Stover, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
She was born October 11, 1929, in Pyrmont, a daughter of Carl and Emma Nottmeier Ehlers. She was baptized November 3, 1929, and confirmed April 18, 1943, at the Trinity Lutheran Church-Pyrmont-Missouri Synod.
On May 1, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church-Pyrmont-Missouri Synod, Ruth was united in marriage to Elvan A. Wahlers.
Ruth and Elvan lived their entire married life on a farm where he was born. They were married 61 ½ years. They always worked together on the farm, raising crops, milking cows, raising hogs and beef cattle. Elvan died on December 13, 2010.
They were the parents of three children, Dianne, Linda, and Gary.
Ruth and Elvan were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stover all their married life.
Survivors include their three children and their spouses, Dianne and Ronnie Conner, Linda and Dale Ingersoll, and Gary and Kathryn Wahlers all of Stover; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa and Micah Uptegrove, Sherry and Tim Franscoviak, Ronnie and Katie Friedebach Conner, Carol and Troy Nairn, James and Kimberly Ingersoll, Kristopher and Beth Wahlers, and Amy and Terry Starkey, nineteen great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter (with a second due in July), her siblings and their spouses, Angeline Weicken Bratsch of Versailles; Carlene and Kenny Nolting of Versailles, and Larry and Francellia Ehlers of Stover; sister-in-law, Marian Ehlers of Sedalia; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lavera Brandes, two brothers, Vern Dean Ehlers and Alfred Ehlers, and three brothers-in-law, Reuben Brandes, Carl Weicken and Ervin Bratsch,
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor Gerald Kurka officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, with a Prayer Service held at 4:30 p.m.
