Ruth Ann Maness

Ruth Ann Maness, age 84, formerly of Otterville, passed away Saturday morning, August 1, 2020. Ruth was the eighth of eleven children born to Elmer A. and Maye L. Schutte. There were 6 boys and 5 girls. Ruth was born April 3, 1936 in Verdon, Nebraska.

Shortly after graduating high school in Nebraska, Ruth and her sister Micky moved to Sedalia, Missouri to be near their sister Betty. Ruth first found a job working at a laundry in Sedalia, then worked at Rival Manufacturing where she met the love of her life, Clifford Maness, who happened to be her boss. After they married, Ruth was happy making a home for Clifford and her two little girls. They lived on a small farm and Ruth raised chickens and loved cats and pretty much all animals. Ruth worked hard, raising a garden, canning her produce and making excellent pies. She loved everything about Christmas, enjoyed flowers and watching hummingbirds, putting jigsaw puzzles together and was forever a Nebraskan as she was a devoted Corn Husker fan.

Ruth was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Florence, Missouri. She loved her family and loved being a grandmother most of all.

Ruth Ann Maness was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Clifford Maness.

She is survived by daughters Joann Schutte of Jefferson City and Leslie Schutte of Loose Creek, Missouri; grandchildren Meghan Wingate, Jonathon Wingate and Emma Schutte; great grandchildren Ava Wingate, Jackson Stegeman and Hanorah Wingate.

Funeral services for Ruth Ann Maness will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Meisenheimer Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will immediately follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Florence. A visitation will begin at 1 p.m. prior to the service.
