Ruby Mae Lankford, age 92, of Warrensburg passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Warrensburg Manor.
She was born August 22, 1926 in Bates City to Roland and Mabel Ina Beshore Link. On February 24, 1946 she married Willis “Bill” Lankford while he was on leave from the United States Marine Corps in Kansas.
She attended Rich Hill and Pleasant Gap schools.
Early in her marriage she worked at Montgomery Ward in Kansas City. In 1970, Ruby and Bill purchased the Stover Minnow Hatchery. They ran the minnow farm until the late 1980s when Bill passed away. After selling the hatchery, Ruby worked at Shoney’s and Walmart in Sedalia. Later she moved to Warrensburg to be closer to her family.
Ruby was a faithful member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Sedalia.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Reg and Joan Lankford of Olympia, Washington and Randy and Delores Lankford of Warrensburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Lexy Conte of Palmdale, California; nine grandchildren, Graham, Jordan, Evan, Angi, Ryan, Tiffany, Skyler, Madison, and Zachary; four great grandchildren, Zadac, Paxton, Zeelan, and Lola; along with many friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband Bill, she is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Katherine Dodd.
A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2018 at the Stover Cemetery.
