Roy V. "Tinker" McCasland age 81, of Gravois Mills, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at his home.
He was born December 26, 1931, at Purvis Beach. He was united in marriage to Wilda Sidebottom Branch on September 11, 1951, in Versailles, who survives at their home. Roy ran heavy equipment, worked in the timber and was a welder for most of his life. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and most of all running his equipment. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Melvin Branch and wife Linda of Kansas City; Speed Branch and wife Brenda, Larry McCasland and Lola Hayes and husband Robert all of Gravois Mills; three brothers, Donnie Coon of Tipton; Robert Coon of Latham and Gene Coon of Overland Park, Kansas; four sisters, Eva Brown of Versailles; Charlene Witte of Jefferson City; Rosemary Hibbard of Overland Park, Kansas and Thelma Coon of Versailles; six grandchildren, Danny Hayes, Speed Branch, Jr., Shanell Branch, Chad Hardey, Amber Yeager and Laura Marriott, numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie McCasland Coon and his foster parents, Frank and Alice McCasland. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Danny Owsley officiating. Interment will be in the Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
