Ross Wayne Friedly

Ross Wayne Friedly, age 76, of Stover, formerly of Blackburn, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
He was born July 14, 1934, in Stover, a son of Lewis Conrad and Myrtle Mae Miller Friedly. On February 21, 1957, Ross was united in marriage to Margaret Gerlt, at the parsonage of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stover. Margaret survives at the home.
He was a 1951 graduate of Stover High School.
Ross was baptized March 25, 1956, at the Stover First Baptist Church and confirmed March 28, 1958, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stover by Pastor Schedler. The confirmation verse chosen was Acts 2:47, "...praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved."
Ross was a carpenter for most of his life, working for Harold Taylor Contracting in the Blackburn area. He later was employed as head of the maintenance department for the St. Pauls Good Shepherd Home in Concordia.
Ross was a longtime, faithful and active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Blackburn, where he served as an Elder. He also served as a member of the board for the Trinity Lutheran School in Alma. He was a former Scout Master for the Boys Scout Troop 70 in Blackburn and Troop 33 in Sweet Springs. He was also Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department in Blackburn for several years.
He enjoyed woodworking, reading, fishing and square dancing with Margaret. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, with his greatest enjoyment coming from spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Tammy Friedly of Sedalia and Alan and Shirley Friedly of Huntsville; one brother and sister-in-law, L.D. and Barbara Friedly of Butler; five grandchildren, Eric Friedly, Holly Diaz and husband Sean, Jennifer Gollitti and husband Lewis, Michelle Friedly and Pam Hopper and husband Mike, seven great grandchildren, Bailey, Colby, Logan, Zeth, Frankie, Malakai and C.J. (his eighth great-grandchild, Mia is due in May), also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Rodney Friedly in 1981, two brothers, Russell and Claude Friedly and two sisters, Helen Browning and Elva Friedly.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 27, at the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor Cecil Murdock officiating. Interment will be in the St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday, December 26, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
