Ronald A. McCormick

Ronald A. McCormick, age 63, of Versailles, died Monday, July 4, 2011, at his home, following a long, courageous battle with ALS.
He was born August 18, 1948, in Muscatine, Iowa, a son of James and Lillian LaRue McCormick.
Ron grew up in the Muscatine area, where he worked for the Muscatine Food Corporation.
In 1988, he moved to the Versailles area, where he owned and operated McCormick Excavating and McCormick Diesel. He also operated a mobile home transport business for several years.
Ron loved to work and was always able to find something to keep him busy. He also enjoyed being outdoors, where he could hunt or go Trap shooting.
He attended the New Revival Church in Versailles.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Connie Brimer of the home; one son, Michael McCormick of Boonville; two daughters, Jeri Sue Stunkard and husband Glenn of Denver, Colorado and Shannon Leach of Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Sean and Alan McCormick, Alexandra and Parker Faith Stunkard and Shelby, Hailey and Chance Leach, three step grandchildren, Sabrina, Leslie and Chad, five brothers, Jimmy, Gayle, Barry, Tim and Keith and three sisters, Bonnie, Christine and Peggy, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 9, at the New Revival Center in Versailles with Joe Liezke officiating. A reception will immediately follow the Memorial Service at the Hunter Civic Center in Versailles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Ron McCormick Memorial Fund.
