Ron Proehl, age 68, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at his home.
It was February 23, 1953 that Herman and Dena Swank Proehl welcomed their son Ron into their family in Tuscumbia.
Ron liked to keep busy and that led to him having many successful businesses around the Versailles area. He mowed lawns, owned Proehl’s Laundromat, and owned Ron’s Carpet Cleaning. He liked to be involved with the community and volunteered his time on the board of the Versailles Historical Society. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #320 in Versailles and the VFW Auxiliary in Versailles. Like everything else he was involved in, Ron was very involved with his church, The Lighthouse and The Assembly of God Church.
To go along with all his businesses, his hobbies also kept him busy. Fishing was a great way for him to spend a day off from work. Ron also liked to do woodworking in his shop and riding four-wheelers. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.
Those left to carry on Ron’s legacy include his son, Ronnie Proehl of Lee’s Summit; his daughter, Tara Brownlee and her husband Randy of Eldon; two brothers, Gary Proehl and wife Patti of Versailles and Larry Proehl of Arizona; three sisters, Gailene Marriott and husband Paul of Mountain View, Katherine Beckmann and Eldrid of Stover and Jo Ann Proehl of Versailles; three grandchildren, Aleasia Shive, Ethan Worley, and Hope Brownlee; along with other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Proehl.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the Masonic Lodge in Versailles.
