Roger Gerlt

Roger Nelson Gerlt of Seffner passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Lakeland Hospice House.

He was born November 10, 1942 in Stover, Missouri to the late Homer and Arlene Gerlt. Roger was a retired heavy equipment operator and served with the United States Army from 1964 until 1966. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven and would often give away devotionals. He loved to work and help people. 

Roger was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Smith; daughter, Linda Estroff; sisters, Margaret Ann Friedly and Dorothy Arlene Milligan; brother, Robert Gerlt; grandchildren, Brittany Smith and Gage Rogerson. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret Gerlt; children, Carol Starowicz (Joe) of Fort Myers and Bruce Smith (Vicki) of Seffner; daughter-in-law, Pokey of Lakeland; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Erik Rottman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. 

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
