Robert E. Hayes

Robert E. "Bob" Hayes, age 67, of Gravois Mills, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at his home. He was born March 29, 1947, in Barnett, a son of Alison and Frances Branson Hayes. On September 11, 1968, in Versailles, Bob was united in marriage to Lola McCasland, who survives at their home. He was a Navy veteran, serving his country in Vietnam and Panama. For most of his life Bob was a logger, working in the timber throughout Morgan County. He enjoyed tinkering with machinery, growing flowers, but most of all being with his family.
In addition to his wife of 45 years, he is survived by four children, Danny Hayes and wife Barb of Versailles; Amber Yeager and husband James of Sedalia; Laura Marriott of Gravois Mills and Connie Hayes of California; his brother-in-law, Larry McCasland of Gravois Mills; siblings, Melvin Hayes of Pierce City; Mildred Hayes of Kansas City; Frances "Cricket" Khlar of Jefferson City; Donnie "Pedro" Hayes of Kansas state and Debbie Hayes of California state; three grandchildren, Brayton Yeager and Daniel and ShyAnn Hayes, along with other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 12, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Danny Owsley officiating. Interment will be in the Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m until service time at the funeral home on Monday. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Compassus.
