Robert J. Bauer

Robert J. Bauer, age 71, of Stover, passed away Saturday morning, January 23, 2016, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
He was born February 13, 1944, in Stover, a son of Richard and Lillie Rehmer Bauer. On March 18, 1983, at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont, Robert was united in marriage to Barbara Sumner Wingard who survives at their home.
He was a 1962 graduate of Stover High School.
Robert was a member of Laborers Local 663 in Sedalia, where he was a certified blaster. He was a member of the crew that helped construct the grandstands at the Missouri State Fair Grounds in Sedalia and also worked on the construction of the Truman Dam at Warsaw.
He was a lifelong, faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont, where he served on the church council and in various other capacities throughout the years. He was also a member of Lakeview Heights Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #4286.
Robert was an outdoorsman who loved working on the farm and checking his cattle. He enjoyed deer hunting, and even though he didn’t like to fish, he enjoyed spending time with Barbara while she did. He also looked forward to football season so he could watch the Kansas City Chiefs. He was proud of his sons and grandsons accomplishments.
In addition to his wife of 32 years, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Sandy Bauer of Smithville and Sean and Kenda Bauer of Versailles; one daughter, Stacy Madole of Missouri; a step son, Tim Wingard of Appleton City; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Bauer of Sedalia; three grandsons, Justin, Clayton, and Rook Bauer, a step grandson, Jacob Wingard, one nephew, Clark Bauer and wife Karla, along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one step son, Rocky Wingard and a brother, Charles Bauer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont with P.M.A. Gary Wahlers officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Pyrmont.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 25, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont.
