Richard Anthony Schmitt

Richard Schmitt, 64, of Pilot Grove, Missouri passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove. He was one of 13 children born to Paul and Edna Schmitt in Des Moines, Iowa.

He was a graduate of Leniham High School in Marshalltown, Iowa. He and Darlene Davis were married April 7, 1987.

Richard worked at Dothage TV in Columbia for many years and also at Isle of Capri in Boonville. He enjoyed working as an electronic technician and fishing in his spare time. He was especially fond and proud of his granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary Ann Dost, Connie Elliott, Yvonne Younger; brothers Joe, Gerald, and Robert Schmitt; infant siblings Victoria, Thomas and John Schmitt.

Richard is survived by his wife Darlene of the home; son Nicholas Schmitt of Pilot Grove; granddaughter Sophie Schmitt; sisters Pauline Cunningham of Blackwater, Margaret Rielly and her husband Jon of Bluffton, South Carolina, and Sister Donna Schmitt of Davenport, Iowa; nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove with burial following in the Pilot Grove City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Monday evening at the church with Rosary at 5 PM.
