Richard Edwin Ehlers

Richard Edwin Ehlers age 87, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
He was born June 29, 1926, at Pyrmont, a son of Peter and Anna Koch Ehlers. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity American Lutheran Church at Pyrmont.
On August 26, 1950, in Springdale, Arkansas, Richard was united in marriage to Irene Albers in a double wedding with Leonard and Joy Brandes Ehlers. Irene survives at their home.
Richard was a World War II veteran, serving his country in the US Navy in the South Pacific from 1944-1946.
He was employed with General Motors in Kansas City, retiring as a supervisor.
Richard was a member of Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church in Sedalia.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting on their farm north of Stover and also spending time at the lake.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by a brother, Walter Ehlers and wife Renata of Stover; ten nieces, ten nephews, along with many other relatives and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mathilda Richardson, brothers, Arthur, Elmer and Alfred Ehlers and a brother who died in infancy.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, at the Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church in Sedalia with Pastor Kim Knowle-Zeller officiating. Interment, with military honors will be in the Kipp Addition of the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Tuesday. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
