Richard Dale Burns, age 65, of Stover, died Thursday, December 10, 2009, at his home.
He was born Mary 29, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri a son of Earl Leon and Helen Highfill Burns.
He was employed with Folger's Coffee for several years.
He enjoyed deer hunting and was an accomplished cook. He also liked to tinker with woodworking in his spare time.
Survivors include his wife, Leta Simpson Oswalt of the home; three daughters, Lori Puckett and husband Charles of Stover; Vicki Payne and husband Mike of Odessa and Pauline Crowley of North Kansas City; one brother, Bill Burns of Grain Valley; one sister, Linda Dutzel and husband Fred of Independence; six grandsons, Jesse Cardiff, Joshua Oswalt, Michael Payne, Caleb Payne, US Marine Corps PFC Cory Burns and Triston Puckett, along with other relatives and friends.
In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated. A private memorial service will be held.
