Raymond C. Metscher

December 20, 1920 — March 7, 2016

Raymond Metscher, age 95, of Stover, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
He was born December 20, 1920 in Zora, the son of Henry and Josephine Lutjen Metscher. He was united in marriage November 4, 1944 in Sedalia to Dorothy Spencer.
He served his country in the United States Army.
He was a mechanic working at various places around Stover, until becoming self-employed.
Raymond enjoyed mowing yards, tinkering, reading, fishing, and bowling. He bowled three times a week, until last year. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by a son, Ray Metscher Jr. and wife Eula of Gravois Mills; two daughters, Elaine Buchanan of Independence and Alice Anderson of Stover; two sisters, Ruby Campbell of Stover and Betty Senter of Columbia, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren with two on the way.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Metscher; two brothers, Leonard Metscher and Arnold "Pete" Metscher; two sisters, Viola Cooper and Irene Sapp; and one granddaughter.
A celebration of life will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Military honors, rendered by Galloway-Martens Post 343, will be immediately following the celebration of life at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Galloway-Martens Post 343 (Stover).
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 (noon) at the funeral home on March 12.
