Pauline Lydia Strobel

Pauline Lydia Strobel, age 96, of Russellville, passed away Thursday evening, March 14, 2013, at Adams Street Place in Jefferson City. She was born January 9, 1917, in Lohman, a daughter of Otto Andrew and Margaret Strobel Hoffmann, who preceded her in death. Pauline was baptized January 27, 1917, and confirmed April 13, 1930, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman. The confirmation verse chosen was John 8:12, "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." On April 30, 1956, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman, Pauline was united in marriage to Clarence J. Strobel, who preceded her in death June 7, 1996. She attended Mt. Hope grade school. Pauline was a homemaker, busy raising her daughter. For many years cleaned homes for many families in the Lohman and Jefferson City areas. Pauline was an accomplished seamstress, and specialized in custom machine quilting. She has been a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville for many years, where she attended the Sunday school Bible class and enjoyed being a part of Trinity Retreads. She was active in the Heisinger Auxiliary. Pauline's favorite pastimes where playing dominoes and visiting with family and friends. She stayed busy sewing, quilting, working in her garden and cooking. She enjoyed people visiting and spending time with her family. Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Strobel of Holts Summit, three sisters-in-law, Alice Hutschreider and Laura Moynagh, both of Jefferson City and Lorene Tipton of St. Louis; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pauline was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Hoffmann and three sisters, Emelie Rockemann, Mathilda Wunderlich and Josephine Theroff. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 18, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville with Rev. William Say officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
