Paul Theodore Washburn died Sunday, August 9, 2020, at his home in Osage Beach with his wife and daughter by his side.
He was born August 12, 1940, in Versailles, a twin son of Paul Emerson and Martha M. “Mary” Heineman Washburn.
Theodore was a 1958 graduate of Versailles High School and a 1963 graduate of Central Missouri State in Warrensburg.
He married Loyce K. "Snooks” Guenther and to this union two children, Kevin and Kelly were born.
For more than 40 years he sold insurance, owning and operating Washburn Insurance Agency in Versailles and later through Prudential Insurance in Raytown.
Theodore was proud of his home town, serving on various committees and promoting economic development within the community. He was an avid sports fan and a diehard Royals, Chiefs and Mizzou Tiger fan.
Ted married Tommye Welden Rhea on July 25, 1986, at Belevedere First Baptist Church in Grandview. Tommye survives at their home.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Osage Hills.
In addition to his wife of 34 years, he is survived by one son, Kevin Washburn of Camdenton and family, Stephen Washburn and wife Patrice and their daughter Ivy; Chad Washburn, Kylie Edwards and Jesse Washburn; one daughter, Kelly Venus and husband Jeff of St. Robert and family, Augusta Morrison and husband Ben; Tommye’s children, a son, Jeffrey Rhea of Aurora and family, Rachael Nelson and husband Jonny and children Michael and Scarlet; a daughter Traci Rhea Clark and husband Lee of Liberty and famiy, Samantha Guerrero and Trenton Guerrero and wife Bailee and their children, Averie, Haedyn and Evrytt; sister-in-law, Sharon Washburn of Rogers, Arkansas and daughter Dody McDaniel and husband Chris and their son Clifford, sister-in-law Carole Welden Lhotka and husband Allan of Panama City, Florida; along with many other family members and friends.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Mary Washburn; his twin brother, David Washburn; two nephews, Sammy and Scott Washburn; a niece, Stacy Washburn and a sister-in-law, Jolene Walker.
In keeping with his wishes he will be cremated. A Celebration of Ted’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 17, in the Washburn Family Plot in the Versailles City Cemetery with Rev. Ken Lumley officiating. In the event of inclement weather the celebration of life will be held at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home chapel located at 210 E. Jasper Street in Versailles.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Bluff Drive Fire Department personnel and Lake Regional Hospice nurses for the assistance they have provided to Ted and Tommye during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Lake Regional Hospice or Church of Osage Hills Benevolent Fund. We will be observing Social Distancing requirements. Face masks are suggested but will not be required.
