Patsy Ann Reed, 75, of Tipton, Mo., passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 15, 1948 in Willow Springs, Mo., the daughter of Velma (Carlson) Truman and Frankie Truman.
Patsy spent her childhood raised on a farm just outside of Tipton, where her fondest memories were tending to the Hereford cattle and geese. This upbringing instilled in her values of hard work, care for animals, and a love of Tipton's warm, close-knit community that she would call home her entire life.
A 1966 graduate of Tipton High School, Patsy found her true calling as an educator. She earned her bachelor's degree from Central Missouri State University and dedicated 37 years to teaching junior high at St. Andrew's School in Tipton.
She was united in marriage on April 5, 1975, at Tipton First Baptist Church to the love of her life David Edward Reed, who survives the home.
Patsy had an unmatched gift for making history come alive and igniting curiosity in the minds of the students she taught. Even after retirement, she continued sharing her passion as a beloved substitute teacher. In addition, outside the classroom she enjoyed her flowers, children’s antiques, crafting beautiful scrapbooks, serving on the school board, her dog Duke, and spending time with friends and especially her family and grandchildren. Patsy's genuine compassion and lively humor left an indelible mark on all who were blessed to know her light.
She is survived by her husband, David Reed of the home; daughter, Lindsey Reed of Peculiar, Mo; and three grandchildren, Logan, William, and Bentley; dear friends and countless former students across the Tipton community. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation celebrating Patsy's life will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2024, at First Baptist Church, Tipton, MO with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am. with Rev. Jared Rivera, officiating. Burial will be at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery at a later date.
