Patricia Ann Shackelford

Patricia Ann Shackelford, 74, of Versailles, passed away Sunday morning, August 10, 2014, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 22, 1939, in Beamon, a daughter of Charles and Margaret Allen Cranfield. On June 28, 1958, at the Florence United Methodist Church, Pat was united in marriage to Orel Dale Shackelford. Dale survives at their home. She was a 1957 graduate of Smith-Cotten High School in Sedalia. Pat was as a secretary/bookkeeper, working for Morgan County Gas Company, Brown Shoe Company, Midway Electric and retiring in 2002 from Broken Arrow Electric. She enjoyed crocheting and making gifts for her family and friends. However, her greatest enjoyment came from her family, especially the time she could spend with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 56 years, she is survived by three children, Orel Dale Shackelford, Jr. of Waverly; Robin Ferguson and husband Bob of Versailles and Rick Shackelford and wife Tamara of Waverly; two sisters, Joyce Jones and husband Allen of St. Clair and Connie Gerken and husband Curtis of Cole Camp; seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter and one brother. In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice Compassus or the American Cancer Society.
