Orva A. Rasa, age 92, of Florence, died Friday, December 4, 2009, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
He was born March 14, 1917, in Glensted, a son of Earnest and Anna Klein Rasa. On February 22, 1948, at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Sedalia, he married Eileen Grupe and she survives at their home.
He was a lifelong farmer and also worked for Morgan County grading roads from 1971 until retiring in 1985.
Orva enjoyed being on his farm. He loved the time he could spend with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Florence.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by three children and their spouses, Ruth Ann and Donald Warnke, Ray and Cheryl Rasa and Roy and Annie Rasa, all of Florence; nine grandchildren, Adam Warnke and wife April of Versailles, Derek Warnke of Florence, Nick Rasa of Sedalia; Brian Rasa and wife Mattie of Versailles, Austin Rasa and wife Ashley of US Army-Afghanistan; Justin Rasa of Florence, Brittany Rasa of North Carolina, Sonya and Megan Thomas of Florence; three great grandchildren, Daniel and Kaitlyn Warnke and Daulton Rasa, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Edgar Rasa and three sisters, Lois Oehrke, Minnie Kanenbley and Alma Rehmer Fischer.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 8, at the St. John United Church of Christ in Florence with Rev. Mike Miller officiating. Interment will be in the St. John UCC Cemetery with grandsons serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, December 7, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. John United Church of Christ.
