Oliver John Heimsoth

Oliver John Heimsoth, age 76, of Stover, died Saturday, November 5, 2011, at his home.
He was born May 3, 1935, in Stover, a son of John H. and Viola U. Hughes Heimsoth. He was baptized May 19, 1935, at Trinity Lutheran Church-Pyrmont and confirmed April 10, 1949, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover. The confirmation verse chosen was I Timothy 4:8, "For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come." On August 1, 1954, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Oliver was united in marriage to Mildred Wilson, who survives at their home.
He was a 1953 graduate of Stover High School.
Oliver farmed in the Stover community for most of his life. He also founded Heimsoth Insurance Agency in Stover, owning and operating the business until selling it to his daughter, Kathryn Wahlers.
He was a faithful and active member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover, serving as head usher for many years. He served on the board of CoMo Electric in Tipton for thirteen years and was a member of the ASCS and the Soil and Crops Board in Morgan County. Oliver was a longtime board member of the the Bunceton Mutual Insurance Company. He also served on the Morgan County R-I School Board and was a former member of the Stover Lions Club.
Oliver enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was hunting, watching the deer on this property or working in his garden. He loved being a good neighbor, and was known for sharing the majority of his harvest with family and friends.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Gary Wahlers of Stover; a brother and sister-in-law, Orville and Patricia Heimsoth of Cole Camp; a sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Jim Walls of Raytown; two grandchildren, Kristopher Wahlers and wife Beth and Amy Wahlers, two great grandchildren, Dylan and Logan Wahlers, also nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Oliver was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Stephen Oliver Heimsoth on January 2, 1973.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover with Rev. Walt Beaman officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Christ Lutheran Church Youth or CoMo Cares.
