Normanda Marie Holzleitner, age 91, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014, at Oak Tree Villa in Jefferson City.
She was born on September 9, 1923, near Lohman, the second child of Julius and Sedonia Hofmockel Buchta. She was baptized on October 14, 1923 and confirmed on April 2, 1939 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville. Her confirmation verse was Proverbs 3:6, "In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
Normanda, along with her siblings, spent their younger days growing up on the family farm along the banks of the North Moreau River, where they fished and collected gooseberries.
She attended Mt. Hope School. As a young woman Normanda moved to Jefferson City, where she worked at Tweedie's Shoe Factory and Kriess' Store. She also worked as a nanny for Dr. Eberhart, assisting in raising their two children.
On September 2, 1948, Normanda was united in marriage to Walter S. Holzleitner, and to this union two daughters were born. Walter preceded her in death on December 8, 1998, after celebrating 50 years of marriage.
She was a homemaker, who also worked alongside her husband on their farm outside of Russellville. To keep busy in her later years, she worked at the Russellville Locker Plant. Normanda loved to mow grass, which she did earlier this spring, and can produce from the garden.
Normanda was a lifelong, faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville where she was involved with the Women's organization and a Sunday School teacher for 29 years.
Survivors include her two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Seidel and Denise and Bob Ortbals all of Lohman; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ellen Strobel of Lohman and Melba and Virgil Ehm of Phillipsburg, Kansas; four grandchildren, Vanessa Johnson and husband Dwayne, Warren Seidel and wife Jodi, Melissa Rentfrow and husband Corey and Ryan Ortbals, five grandchildren Rachel Seidel, Lillian and Reese Johnson, Joel and Nathan Seidel and her sixth which is due in early 2015, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Normanda was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Elvin Buchta, a son-in-law, Grant Seidel and a brother-in-law, Lorenz Strobel.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 17, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville with Pastor Edward Merckel officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville.
