Norman C. Worthley, age 88, longtime resident of Florence, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
He was born February 7, 1928, in Belair, a son of Charles C. and Bonnie Lee Fowler Worthley. On July 10, 1948, in Otterville, Norman was united in marriage to Betty J. Bobbit, who preceded him in death February 12, 1990.
He was a graduate of Manuel High School in Kansas City. Norman was a Navy veteran serving his country in World War II, receiving his Honorable discharge in October of 1947.
He was a mechanic for Mike O'Connor Chevrolet in Sedalia for many years.
Norman was an avid fisherman. He loved being on the home-place near Florence, where he could be outdoors, work in his garden, and spend time with his family and friends. As his health began to decline, he moved to Stover where he could be closer to some of his family members.
He is survived by three children, Walt Worthley and wife Vickey of Stover; Caren Klein and friend Jim Randall of Smithton, and Ron Worthley and wife Penny of Columbia; one sister, Lavera "Boob" Myers of Syracuse; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Bill Klein, a sister, Juanita Carver, and two nephew, Samuel Wayne "Pete" Carver and Jerry Myers.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, with the family receiving friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in the Florence United Methodist Cemetery.
