Norman E. Partney, age 86, of Stover, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
He was born October 28, 1929 in Pilot Knob, the only son of Oscar J. and Ona Helton Partney. On May 22, 1954, in St. Louis, Norman was united in marriage to Wilma Weaver, who survives at their home.
He was an Army veteran, serving his country in World War II and the Korean War.
Norman was a member of Carpenter's Local 5 in St. Louis, where he was instrumental in the building of the St. Louis Children's Zoo and the Lambert Airport expansion; along with numerous other construction projects in the St. Louis area.
Norman was an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church at Oakville, serving as Chairman of the Deacons for approximately 25 years and as Chairman of the Building Grounds committee for many years.
For 51 years, Norman and Wilma resided in the house he designed and built in St. Louis; before moving to Stover to be near their children. He loved being able to be near his grandkids and help take care of his great grandkids. He took up taking care of the neighborhood cats, always feeding and looking after them. He also enjoyed going deer and turkey hunting. Norman loved visiting and never met a stranger.
Along with his wife of almost 62 years, Norman is survived by a son, Kevin Partney and fiancée Sandy Pace of Stover; a daughter, Kim Parker and husband Jim of Cole Camp; two grandchildren, Katie Palmer and husband Nick and Jessica Partney; and four great grandchildren, Allie Jo, Clayton, and Cole Palmer and Rilee Partney.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Evelyn Hausmann.
A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 23 at the Stover Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Stover.
