Nelson E. Hicks

Nelson E. Hicks, 77 years young, flew out of this world on his angel wings on January 18, 2015, surrounded by family and friends, after a very short battle with cancer.
He was born September 21, 1937, in Stover, a son of Carl and Georgia Justus Hicks.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Nelson retired after 35 years of employment with Orkin Pest Control.
He loved to fish and bowl, and was good at both. He also enjoyed watching WWF and NASCAR.
Nelson is survived by his companion of 26 years, Ida of Burbank, California; his daughter, Yolanda and her husband Kevin of Stover; his son, Joel and his wife Amy of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Andrew, Victoria, Patrick, Aurora, Shane and Joel, Jr.; great grandchildren, Aiden and Lily; brothers, Henry, Bill and Jimmy, nieces and nephews, Sylvia (Ben), John (Connie), Henry (Donna), David (Angie) and Gary.
Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Brittany, sister-in-law, Donna and brothers, Claude and Duane.
In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated. Graveside services, with Military Funeral Honors, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, at Big Rock Cemetery near Barnett.
