Nelda A. Linsenbardt Bubach

Nelda Ann Linsenbardt Bubach age 98, of Lohman, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Bluffs surrounded by her family.
Nelda was born April 7, 1916, at the family home, the first born child of Gustav and Flora Fluegel Linsenbardt. She was baptized April 28, 1916, and confirmed April 13, 1930, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lohman. The confirmation verse chosen was Psalm 23. She attended St. Paul’s German School and graduated from the Lohman Public School.
On October 4, 1945, Nelda was united in marriage to Oscar L. Bubach, at St. Paul’s parsonage, while he was on leave from the U.S. Navy following World War II. They loved to play cards, dance, travel, and spend time with friends and family. Oscar preceded her in death on March 5, 1988.
She worked in the Jefferson City Defense Factory and Oberman’s Pants Factory. Following the war she was a homemaker, busy raising two children. After they were grown, she worked at Milo H. Walz in the Drapery Department.
Nelda and Oscar raised dairy cows for many years on their farm. She loved to garden, canning or freezing many of the vegetables as well as the fruit from the orchard. Flowers of many varieties bloomed in her yard and garden. An excellent cook, Nelda was well known for her lemon meringue pies, cream puffs and cinnamon rolls. She won blue ribbons at the county and state fairs for her homemade white and wheat breads. She also received blue ribbons and top honors for her apple and gooseberry pies.
Nelda was an accomplished seamstress, making many beautiful quilts and participating in St. Paul’s Women’s Circle weekly quilting days. She was a faithful, active, lifelong member of St. Paul’s, belonging to the Women’s ELCA, Alter Flower Guild, Chili supper committee and S.T.A.R.S. (Seniors, Tired and Retired Saints).
Active in the Lohman 4-H, Nelda was a clothing leader and also a clothing judge at the Cole County Fair. She was a member of the Cole County Communities Council and assisted with the start-up of the Annual Crafts Festival. She was also a member of the Lohman Community Building Association.
Nelda is survived by her son, Marvin of Lohman; her daughter, Susan and husband Peter Neenan of Columbia; three grandsons, Doug and Jeff Bubach of Lohman and Max Neenan of Columbia; two great granddaughters, Kaylin and Abby Bubach of Russellville; one brother, Albin Linsenbardt and wife Jackie of Lohman; one sister, Olivia Linhardt of Russellville; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Sharon Bubach, two brothers and their wives, Rupert and Corrine Linsenbardt and Aldo and Charlotte Linsenbardt and a brother-in-law, Franz Linhardt.
She lived a good life, loved her family, was always kind, considerate, helpful and never had a bad word to say about anyone.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lohman with Pastor Edward Merckel officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 5 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery or St. Paul’s Kitchen Fund.
