Nathan Edward Miller, age 82, of Syracuse, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, at his home.
Nathan was born December 20, 1941, in Boonville, Missouri, the son of Edward and Gladys (Worley) Miller, who preceded him in death.
On December 27, 1962, Nathan married Barbara Jean Gantner in Pilot Grove, Missouri, who passed away September 12, 2019.
Nathan graduated from Tipton High School. At age 16 he began working at the sale barns in Sedalia, Boonville, and Versailles. In 1959 he went to auctioneering school in Mason City, IA with E.H. Fowler. He loved to talk and tell stories. In addition to auctioneering, he even called square dances.
Over the years Nathan served on various board positions in Syracuse. He was very active with the FFA and in St. Andrew Catholic Church, where he would help with the Thanksgiving Day auction. He loved working on his farm with his cattle, hogs, chickens, and sheep. He was especially fond of his mules.
Survivors include daughters Jeannie Tuttle (Mike) of Bunceton; Brenda Munnerlyn (Phillip) of Kaufman, Texas; Carrie Long (Forrest) of Clarksburg; Natalie Miller of Dallas, Texas; Christina Mettenburg of Jamestown; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four nephews and two nieces.
In addition to his parents and wife, Barbara Jean, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Nick Mettenburg.
All services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Campfire Fellowship Cowboy Church, 70011 East Hwy 50, Tipton, Missouri with Larry Marriott and Phillip Munnerlyn, officiating. Everyone is invited to the luncheon at 11:30 a.m., with visitation at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will follow the service at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery in Tipton.
Pallbearers are Hunter Munnerlyn, Jake Munnerlyn, Jonathan Tuttle, Brent Long, Nathan Mettenburg, Lane Peoples, and Henry Schnuck.
Honorary pallbearers are Jeromy Tuttle, Blaine Millsap, Brennon Millsap, Donnie Belt, Kevin Williams, Butch Watring, and Loretta Stayton.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery or Campfire Fellowship Cowboy Church.
Arrangements are in the care of Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home, Tipton, MO.
