Nadyne P. Steffens, age 73, of Stover, passed away, Monday night, October 14, 2013, at University Hospital in Columbia. She was born June 9, 1940, in Cole Camp, a daughter of John P. and Marie Harms Klindworth. She was baptized July 7, 1940, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp and confirmed July 19, 1953, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Cole Camp. The confirmation verse chosen was Hebrews 10:23 "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful." On January 27, 1978, in Stover, Nadyne married H. Emil Steffens who preceded her in death September 29, 2013. She was a graduate of Cole Camp High School.
Nadyne worked in the food industry all of her life, first owning the Bee Hive Restaurant in Cole Camp for a few years, then as a waitress at the State Fair Restaurant in Sedalia. She retired from the Pioneer Restaurant in Versailles, after 32 years of keeping the local coffee cups full and the weary travelers well fed.
She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stover. When she wasn't at work, she enjoyed cooking for her family and they enjoyed eating what she prepared. She also loved spending time in her flower garden and adding to her cobalt blue glass collection. However, her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include three children, Cindy Gardner and husband Mark of Brookfield; Peggy Bay and husband Bob of Sedalia and Terry Bugh and wife Becky of Tennessee; two sisters, Thelma Balke of Cole Camp and Florine Craddock of California state; three step daughters, Susan Roe and husband Vernon; Jana Kennedy and husband Fred and Brenda Steffens, nine grandchildren, Beth Kirkpatrick and husband Tarl, Shenea Gardner, Brad Gardner, Chad Gardner and wife Ariel, Elaine Shelton and husband Robert, Josh Bugh, Jordan Bugh and wife Brittany, Justin Bay and wife Jenna and Jesse Bay, five great grandchildren, Aalayah and Alex Kirkpatrick, James Gardner and Lauren and Mara Shelton, along with step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Annie Gazzaway and two brothers, Leroy and Arlie Klindworth. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 18, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor Erik Rottmann and Vicar Gerald Kurka officiating. Interment will be in St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Golden Age Living Center Appreciation Fund or St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
