Monte Allen Bremer, age 68, a lifelong resident of Florence, died Sunday, August 2, 2009, at his home.
He was born June 6, 1941, in Florence, a son of Edwin and Helen Brauer Bremer, both deceased.
Monte was united in marriage to Leila Dawes on March 9, 1963, in Sedalia, and she survives at their home.
He was a 1959 graduate of Stover High School. He worked in various capacities with Clarkson Construction, retiring after 45 years of employment.
Monte was a lifelong member of St. John United Church of Christ in Florence.
He had a knack for electronic equipment, especially radios and enjoyed the challenge of working on them. He also taught himself how to use his computer and enjoyed the challenge it presented. His greatest enjoyment came from the time he could spend with his family and friends, especially his grandkids.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Paris Bremer of Otterville; a daughter, Sherain Gray of Stover; five grandchildren, Sydney, Garrison and Aric Gray and Christian and Megan Bremer, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Monte was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Bremer and William Elmo "Duck" Bremer, a sister, Mary Lou Simon and three infant sisters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 5, at St. John United Church of Christ in Florence. Interment will be in the St. John UCC Cemetery in Florence.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 4, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. John United Church of Christ.
