Mildred Mabel Fischer

Mildred M. Fischer, age 91, of Stover, died Monday, January 23, 2012, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
She was born July 5, 1920, in rural Cole Camp, a daughter of Rudolph and Mabel Schnakenberg Holtzen. She was baptized July 18, 1920, and confirmed March 25, 1934, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Lake Creek (rural Cole Camp). The confirmation verse chosen was Hebrews 10:35-36, "Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that you may do the will of God and receive what is promised."
On June 29, 1941, Mildred was united in marriage to Marnem Fischer, who preceded her in death March 4, 1983.
She was a homemaker and dairy farmer, busy raising her four children and tending to the family farm.
Mildred was a longtime, faithful member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stover. She was very involved in St. Pauls Lutheran School, making sure her children understood the importance of a Christian education.
She enjoyed quilting, maintaining a beautiful flower garden, and most of all being on her farm, where she resided until entering the hospital this past week.
Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Dean and Kathy Fischer of Blue Springs; Kenneth and Roberta Fischer of Cole Camp; Wayne and Phyllis Fischer of Stover and Verona and Ed Goetz of Cole Camp; one brother, Roy L. Holtzen of Cole Camp; a sister-in-law, Lavera Holtzen Sanders of Cole Camp; six grandchildren, Kerry Fischer, Kenna Freese, Scott Fischer, Kris Fischer, Jackson Fischer and Shallie Witt; four step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Richard Holtzen, a sister, Ethel Holsten and husband Amos, a brother-in-law, Melvin Fischer and wife Paula and a sister-in-law, Edna Schlomer and husband Alfred.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 27, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor Martin Hoyer officiating. Interment will be in St . Pauls Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 26, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Pauls Lutheran School or the St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
