Michael John Burns, Sr

Michael John Burns Sr., age 68 of Tipton, MO passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, at his home.

Michael was born September 9, 1954, in Darby, Pennsylvania to Robert and Theresa (Lannon) Burns, who preceded him in death.

On June 8, 1978, in Arizona, Mike married Joyce Elaine Thompson, who preceded him in death on July 13, 2019.

As a young man living in Collingdale, PA, he spent his time at the pool honing his diving skills. He also won many diving awards throughout high school. A few years after high school, Michael joined and honorably served in the United States Air Force at Luke Airforce Base, Arizona, where he met his wife of over forty years, Joyce. After the service, he worked as a long-haul truck driver for over forty years which is what brought him and his family to Tipton in 1993. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles and would say, “It’s not a bike if it’s not a Harley.” He was also vice president of the Derelicts Motorcycle Club. Anyone who knew Mike would hear him laughing and cracking jokes because he loved seeing people happy, especially his grandchildren. Mike loved his family and will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include one son Michael John Burns, Jr. of Tipton; three daughters Michele Harkins (Joshua) and Germaine Burns (Dalton Showman), both of Tipton, and Sarah Burns (J.R. Sherrell) of Crocker, MO; and nine grandchildren Erica Harkins, Kaylynn Harkins, Alena Harkins, Aiden Harkins, Konnar Furney, Addilynn Hibdon, Remington Hibdon, Daxton Hibdon, and Madeline Sherrell.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home, Tipton, Missouri. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
