Merwin Albert Miesner

Merwin Albert Miesner, age 85, of Stover, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
He was born September 7, 1930, in Stover, the only son of Albert Johann and Katharine Koester Miesner. He was baptized September 21, 1930 and confirmed March 25, 1945. His confirmation verse was John 3:16 " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
On June 19, 1965, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stover, Merwin was united in marriage to Katheryn "Sue" Frisbie, who preceded him in death on December 28, 2012.
Merwin served his country in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He worked as a farmer.
He liked to fish, play old card games, and eat out. His greatest enjoyment was being able to babysit his granddaughters up until he got ill.
Merwin is survived by one son, Jimmy Miesner; one daughter-in-law, Cherre Miesner; and four granddaughters, Henleigh Miesner, Hope Miesner, Holly Miesner, and Hunter Michelle Miesner; two step grandchildren, Hunter Reed McCullough, Haley McCullough; one sister, Ardella Nolting; and two nephews and their family, Brian and Wayne Nolting all of Stover.
Along with his parents and his wife, Sue, he is preceded in death by one son, Albert Miesner.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stover with Rev. Gerald Kurka officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Paul Lutheran Church or the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
