Merlyn Dean Springer, age 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Tipton Tuesday, April 2, 2019.
Merlyn was born at home to Roy Elmer and Velma Beryl Lawson Springer near Clarksburg, Missouri on land that had been homesteaded by his family. He has been a lifelong resident of Moniteau County, making his home in Tipton most of his life.
On July 2, 1949 he married Donna Jane Eichelberger. They were quite close to having 70 years together. Two daughters were born to this union.
Merlyn was in the US Army and served his country during WW II. When he came home he was employed for many years as a lineman and also installed telephones for United Telephone Co. until his retirement in 1984.
Life was lived fully by Merlyn as he enjoyed bowling, golfing and was a charter member of the Tipton Country Club. He was also a member of the American Legion, Farmers and Sportsman Club and he and Donna were members of the Central Missouri Campers Club. After retiring, Merlyn was known for his woodworking and the couple would enjoy taking their wares to surrounding craft shows. He was a sports enthusiast and never missed watching the games on TV of Missouri Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals or Kansas City Royals. He kept stats on all the games but was also a great record keeper of all things important to he and every member of his family.
Those preceding Merlyn in death were his parents Roy and Beryl Springer.
Surviving Merlyn are his wife Donna of the home; daughters Debra Stonner and husband Cary and Lana Kuttenkuler and husband Bill, all of Tipton; grandchildren Ryan Kuttenkuler of Tipton, Kara Aberle and husband Greg of Lake St. Louis, Kyler Kuttenkuler and wife Kassity of Tipton and step granddaughter Sydney Stonner McGregor and husband David of Hong Kong; great grandchildren Noah, Parker and Madison Kuttenkuler, Logan and Evan Brown, Cameron Aberle, and Oliver and Owen Kuttenkuler; his brother Jerry Springer and sister Jean Anthony; 2 nieces and 4 nephews.
