Mary Rosaline Stoecklein

January 6, 1918 — December 30, 2015

Mary Rosaline Stoecklein, 97, of Pilot Grove, Missouri passed way December 30, 2015 at Katy Manor Nursing Home in Pilot Grove.

Mary Rosaline was born January 6, 1918 on the home place 4 miles east of Pilot Grove, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Muessig Stoecklein. She was educated at St. Joseph's grade school and completed some college classes at a high school that was in Pilot Grove during her formative years.

She moved to Kansas City with her sister, Isabella Stoecklein Bauer, during the 1930s and worked for several families, the later being the Marshes with whom she moved to Evanston, Illinois where she began work in the telephone industry. In Evanston she worked the Bell Telephone Company.

Rosaline returned to the home place in 1948 to keep house for her dad and brothers that were still at home. During this time she was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was very active in the Altar Society. She has the honor of being the president of the society for a number of years. She also cared for all the altar linens and other duties of the church.

After the death of her father she returned to Kansas City and telephone work. She was employed at the Muehlbach Hotel as a switch board operator. Rosaline was later employed as a dispatch telephone operator for the Kansas City Police Department for many years until her retirement.

During these years in Kansas City she was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and especially after her retirement she was active in many ministries of this parish as she had been during her years at St. Joseph's in Pilot Grove.

She was predeceased by her parents; siblings Marie Stoecklein Brummel, Frank Stoecklein, Jr., Fred Stoecklein, Isabella Stoecklein Bauer, Charles Stoecklein, Bernadine Stoecklein, twin brothers Albert Roy Stoecklein and Robert Ray Stoecklein; nephews Robert Tavenner, William Tavenner, and niece Sharon Stoecklein Wilmsmeyer.

Rosaline is survived by sister Edna Tavenner of Pilot Grover; sister-in-law Isabel Stoecklein of Boonville; and a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. Joseph Church in Pilot Grove with burial to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 - 10:30 AM with rosary to follow.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Cemetery or the St. Joseph Catholic School in Pilot Grove.
