Mary "Merty" Stevenson

Mary Lou “Merty” Stevenson, age 70, of Versailles, passed away Saturday morning, September 5, 2020 at Osage Beach Rehab and Care Center.

She was born December 20, 1949, in Stover the daughter of Lon and Marie Burnett Chadwick.

On November 3, 1972, Merty was united in marriage to Delbert Clayton Stevenson, who preceded her in death.

She spent her life taking care of her family.  For a while she was a CNA at Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles; where she cared for the residents the way she would have wanted her own loved ones taken care of.

She is survived by one daughter, Donita Thompson of Laurie; one step son, Bobby Lee Stevenson of Springfield; three step daughters, Debbie Gosvener of Branson; Kathy Murray of Neosho and Laura Stevenson of Branson; two sisters, Phyllis Chadwick of Tipton and Sanda Roberson of Versailles; one brother, Cleo Chadwrick of Versailles; six grandsons, Keenan, Nathaniel, Cole Jr., Skyler and Blake all of Laurie and Isaiah of Mosheim, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Ayrianna of Laurie and one great granddaughter, Iris of Climax Springs; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her husband, Merty was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Cole Stevenson, Sr. and his wife Jennifer; three brothers, Darrell Chadwick, Claude Chadwick and Carroll Burnett, two sisters, Leta Chadwick and Millie Barton and two unborn grandchildren.

A Celebration of Merty’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, at Big Rock Church just off Highway 52 west of Barnett.  Inurnment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery on 135 south of Stover.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Merty Stevenson family, please make checks payable to Donita Thompson or the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, to assist with final expenses.
